A lifelong fan of nature and cinema, Alexander learned to paint and draw at a young age from his grandmother and uncle. This love of the arts took him into film photography, and later into cinematography when the digital camera revolution took hold.
After studying theatre production at the University of Waterloo, he took a turn into the hospitality world — ideal preparation for handling all the simultaneously-moving parts of a video production.
